Amma Water Bottles by Tamil Nadu Govt

These smaller water bottles would be made of glass instead of plastic. Currently, around 80,000 one-liter bottles which cost Rs 10 each are sold to bus commuters & others on a daily basis. Many people leave behind half to full bottles without completely consuming water. So to reduce wastage, the state govt will bring up 750 ml Amma Water Bottle Scheme.

Amma Water Bottle was launched by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to minimize the usage of single-use plastic. Now the Tamilnadu Govt wants to double the production of smaller glass water bottles. The cost of the 750 ml water bottles would be around Rs 5 to Rs 7. The production of Amma Water Bottles will be around 2 lakh units in a single day. People on bus stands and railway stations purchase 1-liter water bottles but are unable to consume it. So to reduce the wastage of water and eliminate the use of single-use plastic, the TN government will start production of 750 ml Amma Water Bottles. These bottles are to be made with glass with each bottle cost is around Rs 7. Institute of Road Transport (IRT), an agency under the Tamil Nadu state transport department has already floated the tenders for Amma Water Bottles.

The tenders are to install necessary machines to manufacture 1 liter & 750 ml packaged drinking water at 2.4 acres Gummdipoondi campus for the next 5 years. Previously installed machines were found defected and so the production of Amma Water Bottle was affected. Now, the outdated machines would be replaced with high-end drinking water treatment plant, bottling plant, and testing labs.


TN Amma Water Bottle Scheme Made of Glass-

This installation of new Amma Water Bottle machines will ensure that there is no compromise on hygiene and estimate it for Rs 250 crore. On revamp, the production unit will be able to produce at least 2 lakh one liter and 750 ml bottles.

  • These glass water bottles are to be distributed across 310 recognized selling points and to AC bus passengers run by State Express Transport Corporation (
  • The last date to submit bids is 15 November 2019.

Under this scheme, the YSR government will provide vehicles to unemployed youths. This is a self-employment scheme for transportation of sand and other essential commodities through Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC), Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation (APCSC), Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Limited (APBCL) and other govt agencies.

Around 6,000 trucks would be inducted in this Adarsham Scheme for transportation through the welfare corporations with bank linkage. With this scheme, the state government wants to ensure that each jobless candidate can earn up to Rs 20,000 per month. The YSR Govt of Andhra Pradesh wants to provide employment opportunities to youths. So that they can earn their livelihood and lead a life of dignity/honor.

Andhra Pradesh YSR Adarsham Scheme 2019-20

The important features of this AP Adarsham Scheme are as follows:

  1. The state govt of AP will provide vehicles to unemployed youths to create employment opportunities & make them self reliant.
  2. This self-employment scheme in Andhra Pradesh will remove bottlenecks in the transportation of sand and other essential commodities.

UP Free Bus Ride Scheme 2019: Uttar Pradesh government is going to launch the Free Bus Ride Scheme for BPL Families. For this, the State Govt will issue Smart Cards to poor people. With the help of this card, there is no need for offline/online ticket booking. Accordingly, this free bus fare scheme will benefit around 1 crore BPL families in the state. It will provide them with the facility of free bus travel in various govt buses.

In addition to the free bus fare, the government will also provide accidental insurance coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh per household. This insurance amount includes Rs 5 lakh coverage in case of death. Transport Dept of Uttar Pradesh has drafted this proposal of free bus travel for Below Poverty Line (BPL) families. Now it sent for approval. This is a major step towards the empowerment of women and will provide them security in bus fares.

UP Free Bus Ride Scheme for BPL Families (Complete Details)

As we told you above that UP Free Bus Ride Scheme is a flagship scheme of Yogi Govt towards women safety. The important features of this scheme are as follows:

  1. This free travel scheme will provide absolutely free fares to the BPL citizens in any of government bus run by UP Transport Dept.
  2. This is a major decision of Yogi government to provide free bus rides as the general elections are nearby i.e in 2019.
  3. Afterward, the state transport department has prepared the proposal about a free bus ride and has already sent it approval.
  4. Under this scheme, the transport department will require Rs 2,990 per family to meet the expenses.
  5. Accordingly, the total revenue burden will remain around Rs 3,000 crore per annum for the successful implementation of this scheme.
  6. This scheme is going to benefit around one crore BPL families.
  7. Apart from that, the Transport Dept will issue Smart Cards to the BPL households which these citizens can utilize for free travel on govt buses.
  8. In addition to this, BPL candidates will also get accidental insurance of Rs 10 lakh per family including death insurance of Rs 5 lakh.

Furthermore, various other departments like Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Agriculture and Health are proposed to bear the cost of implementation.

Uttar Pradesh Free Bus Ride Scheme Implementation-

Free Bus Ride Scheme is a major step towards the security of girls and women in rural areas and thus promote “Women Empowerment”. Henceforth, all the girls who opt for private transport due to the cheaper price of ticket booking and thus lead to harassment can now make free bus fare.


Transport Dept of Uttar Pradesh targets to connect all villages (Around 1.07 lakh) with bus services in the coming 5 years. Moreover, till date, UP Transport Dept is running buses which connects 58,000 villages covering around 18,000 km in the state.
